This website is owned and managed by Cristina Sweeney. This page explains what information the website collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. If you have questions or requests, you may email [email protected].
When you sign up for my emails
You give me your email address. It’s saved on this site, so a signup is never lost, and goes to Kit, the service I use to send my emails (Kit’s privacy policy: https://kit.com/privacy). I use it only to send you news of my writing and my memoir, Medusa’s Notebook. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to delete it at any time.
Your browser also remembers whether you closed or filled in the signup box, so it doesn’t keep asking. That stays on your device.
When you use the contact form
Your name, email address, and message are emailed to me so I can reply. They aren’t stored on this site. To keep out spam, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a person (Cloudflare’s privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/).
When you leave a comment
Your name, email address, website (if you give one), and comment are saved on this site, along with your IP address and browser details to help catch spam. Your email address is never shown. If you tick “Save my name,” your browser keeps your details in cookies for next time. Email me if you’d like a comment removed.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and how they find the site: pages visited, the site you came from, your approximate location, and your device and browser. It sets cookies to do this. I see totals, not who you are. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can block Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or your browser’s privacy settings.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted by Liquid Web and protected by Cloudflare. Like every website, their servers see your IP address and keep standard logs to keep the site running and secure.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell or share your information, and there are no ads on this site.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from my emails at any time, and you can email [email protected] to see, correct, or delete what I have about you.
